A Classroom Supply Upgrade

Help me give my students meaningful prizes such as pencils, erasers, and pens that will help motivate good behavior while providing essential supplies for our classroom.

My Students

My class is full of creative, energetic, hard-working students. They love reading books, cracking jokes, coloring pictures, making art projects, and learning new things. They are very curious and are constantly asking questions.

As a special education teacher, most of my students are below grade level and are working hard to catch up to their peers.

Our Title I school has more than eighty percent of our population receiving free or reduced-price lunch. More than half of our students are English language learners. It's important to give these students a quality education early, to instill a love of learning while they are still young.

School should be a place where students feel safe and are able to gain skills and knowledge that will help them be successful in future careers. I strive to give them as many opportunities to learn these things as I can.

My Project

In my experience, the most motivating classroom rewards for students have always been junk food. I am trying to change that by promoting prizes that double as classroom necessities.

I would like to reward my students' hard work and good behavior with useful supplies such as pencils, erasers, and pens.

Frequently, students earn junk food or cheap toys as prizes that must immediately be put into their backpacks because toys are not allowed in school. Their rewards must be taken home and are quickly forgotten about. Help me motivate my students using meaningful supplies that they can use throughout the day as they work on reading, math, and other important tasks. Many of my students are below grade level which can be very discouraging for them. These supplies will help my students continue to work through challenges and keep a positive attitude while teaching them good habits and strengthening their work ethic.

Unfortunately, these supplies tend to be more expensive than a piece of candy or a cheap toy. With your help, I can provide a classroom reward system that motivates my students and promotes a hard-working lifestyle that is crucial to being ready to learn.
