This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is made up of 27 very unique little individuals with a strong love for learning! They are filled with so much energy and always ready for whatever is on the menu! Our school is comprised of students that come from low income and single parent homes. Despite their backgrounds, they come ready to learn each day.
We are a lively bunch and we operate as a classroom community, where each person is an important piece to the puzzle.
My students have varying ability levels, learning styles, and educational needs and that is what makes them special. As their teacher, it is my goal to provide them with the tools to be successful.
My Project
Please help us bring a bright, comfy classroom rug with space for all to our "home away from home". Our rug is utilized for morning meeting, lessons on the Smartboard, read alouds, centers, independent reading, and whole group instruction.
Currently, we have two very old rugs that have seen better days, placed side by side in an attempt to provide enough space for each student to be seated when we gather together.
Each day I watch my students hustle to the floor in hopes to grab a seat on the rug before the carpeted area runs out.
Donations from this project will eliminate the shuffle to be one of the first few to the floor. It will increase their focus, and minimize distractions which will ultimately maximize learning on a bright comfortable carpeted area with space for all members of our classroom.
