Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a group of inquisitive and creative third graders in an ICT special education class. I have students that are performing on a wide range of academic levels. Although several of my students are far below grade level standards, they are all eager to learn new things, and always try their best to succeed.
My students love to read and are always looking forward to the opportunity to dive into a good book!
We are excited to work on bringing up our reading levels by increasing stamina, fluency, intonation and expression while we read!
My Project
I have asked for new books for our classroom library. The students will be able to borrow books from our library to read during center time as well as independent reading time. The books are leveled so that each student has access to books at their reading level.
Unfortunately, we do not have a classroom library that has books that are engaging and that meet the interests of our students.
We need these books to help captivate our young learners and motivate them to continue to build a love of reading. It is my hope that with a new set of books in our library, the students will continue to develop new and necessary reading skills!
