A Classroom Library: to Escape and Join Another Reality
Help me give my students an award-winning author series, which include Roald Dahl's 15 treasures, Christopher Paul Curtis' 5, and several Katherine Applegate books. Students also love Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Amulet, and I Survived series!
My students seem to have a hunger for learning. Their reading levels exceed normal grade expectations, thus it leads me to believe they find joy in flipping pages into a new world or into new information. This drive is something that can't be forced, so this interest is something I am eager to harness and nurture within the classroom.
These students are excited to join another world.
My class is eager to see how characters face adversity. Most importantly, I have gained a sense of hope watching their joy...knowing this desire will remain with them beyond my classroom.
My Project
As mentioned when describing my students, I noticed their desire to read. This is an internal push that cannot be forced, and not necessarily taught. Now, perhaps more than ever, we want to continue fueling that spark of reading. Not just for expanding literacy development, but to also broaden our students' minds to see different perspectives throughout the world.
Through this project, your donations will help my 5th graders escape their world and become immersed in another reality.
Students will gain insights, discover new ideas, and may even have a release from their own burdens as they flip through pages. Your contributions allow me, as their teacher, to show them a whole new world that is attained through books. That simple transformation is a gift, and you would be able to make this possible.
