A Classroom Library for Everyone
Help me give my students a classroom library that reflects their race and culture.
As a teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, I want to provide my 28 students with many learning opportunities. Our school is a public school that houses grades first through eighth, right outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
We are located in a Title I school, and 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students thrive when given attention and positive reinforcement. They are energetic, curious, and motivated to learn and soak up all the information surrounding them.
This past week has really had me reflecting on my school and my students. I want all of my students to know that they matter and that all of them are important, their lives matter.
I want my classroom library to be filled with characters that all my students can relate to and learn from.
By funding this project, you will begin to help me create a more diverse library for my students. They will read fictional stories and nonfictional stories and be able to relate to the characters or real life people in the stories. That is how we learn, through connection.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
