A Classroom Electronic Keyboard for Students with Special Needs
Help me give my students a Casio electronic keyboard, stand and headphones that will allow them to learn piano and discover the excitement of mixing beats, play with different instrument sounds and have fun!
My amazing students are in the Functional Skills program at my high school and range in age from 9th-12th grade and Post-High which serves students ages 18-22 with moderate to severe disabilities. My students have varying degrees of disabilities but they all enjoy making music!
All of the students in my program would benefit from having a classroom piano keyboard to play on during our weekly music class.
My students enjoy singing, dancing, trying new instruments, drumming and learning about music from around the world. Music is something that all students, no matter their disability, can enjoy.
My Project
As a child, I was lucky enough to have a piano teacher for my Mom. I grew up taking lessons and composing original songs on our family piano. As a teacher of students with special needs, I have seen the power of music. My students love to sing, dance, learn about instruments and play music. We have a classroom drum and shakers and an old guitar but we do not have a keyboard. Adding a keyboard will allow me to give individual piano instruction to my students, and give them the opportunity to create music for themselves. The included headphones and stand with this keyboard are a bonus!
All of my students would love the opportunity to learn basic piano and will have a great time playing with the different sounds, musical instruments, pedals and beats.
Adding a classroom electronic keyboard will allow me to share my love of music with my incredible students!
