My students come to school everyday ready to take on the day and expand their minds with knowledge. The majority of my students come from diverse cultures and socioeconomic statuses. Almost all my students qualify for a free or reduced lunch. They are eager and compassionate students who need a positive start to their day in order to help them feel like they are part of a community.
Together, we can give them this by donating a community carpet which will be used for morning meetings, social emotional learning lessons, mini whole and small group lessons, and much more.
Our current carpet is very old, tattered and too small to fit most of my students. My students need their own space on the carpet so everyone feels a part of our classroom community.
My Project
"She's touching me! He's not sitting in his spot." These are the constant things I hear from my students as we gather to the front of the room for a whole group lesson. We need a classroom carpet to give every student their own comfortable, safe spot to learn.
Having a classroom carpet will allow my students to stay focused on their important learning instead of being distracted by who or where they are sitting.
We would use the classroom carpet on a daily basis for morning meeting, whole and small group lessons, read aloud time, as well as the student's independent work time.
