My Students

My students are an amazing and diverse group of low-income 5th graders. Fifth grade is their first year in middle school- and it is oftentimes a challenging year for many. With all the challenges that my students face they each come to school ready and willing to learn. They have learned how to focus on their education. I am so proud of them for all that they do and all that they have overcome to get to where they are!

My Project

Before moving to a middle school teaching position, I taught second grade for several years. While teaching in elementary, I acquired many of my classroom supplies. Those supplies included a classroom set of scissors that were used on a regular basis.

Having a classroom set of age and size appropriate scissors will greatly improve my students abilities to carry out tasks for both their math and science notebooks.

Our old scissors no longer fit the fingers of my fifth grade students, they were made for littler hands! We use scissors on a regular basis for both our math and science notebooks. However, the scissors we have in our class are not comfortable and have proven to be more of a pain than anything to my students these days!
