Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It has always been my passion to teach children. I started teaching in January this year, and it has been the most incredible experience. I taught second grade and most of my classroom was prepared by the generous donations from my fellow teachers. I am now going to be teaching Kindergarten! I am incredibly excited, but am worried about what their class library is going to look like. I have the donated books that I used for my second graders, but know that those will not work for my new kiddos. I work at a Title 1 school, so extra funding is not possible. These students will be learning how to read in my classroom and it means so much to me that I am able to give them the best resources they could possibly need in order to succeed.
My Project
As students come into their first year of education, they come to us as absorbent sponges ready to soak up new knowledge and skills. I have a whole class of Kindergarten kiddos who will be ready to learn their ABCs and how to read. This generous donation of books for our class library will only make their journey more exciting and meaningful. I love the idea that these students may find that one book they will love and enjoy for the rest of their lives. We will build our skills together, go on wild adventures, and most importantly have fun while learning.
