A Chromebook Culture

My students need Chrome Books to complete assignments for classes and for projects. Many of them do not have access to technology at home due to their socioeconomic status. These 10 would complete my class set!

My Students

The students I teach at Oak Grove Lower Elementary are the English Learners. These students have a background of diverse language, culture, education, and socioeconomic statuses. We have children at our school that were born in the United States, but they have been isolated in their language groups until entering school. We also have children that come from others countries with absolutely no English or knowledge of American culture. My goal is not only to teach them to read and write in English, but to acclimate them to the American culture while still preserving their own language and culture.

Most of my students live in run-down trailer parks where there is not much room to buy enrichment materials or even think about internet service or devices.

My Project

I deliver interventions in Reading and Language to my students who fall into the lowest quartile. There are so many programs out there that can be used to enhance their learning and provide instant feedback. The 10 computers would allow us to use all these programs within our intervention times. Programs like Lexia Core5, Epic, Kahoot! are just some of the amazing programs we could utilize. Use of these Chrome books allows be to also differentiate instruction and meet each students needs. These programs increase learning, but also show some of the greatest gains. Please help my students be successful by completing our chrome book computer supply.
