A Chromebook Classroom will Captivate a Student's Mind
My students need Chromebooks to explore the world around them, produce projects, and to have access to current events in order to be a successful 21st century learner.
My 5th grade students are resourceful, funny, and full of life. The way they treat each other, share information with one another, and their willingness to help out a fellow peer in a time of need makes me smile.
My students are engaged collaborators who are also active listeners and learners that constantly crave challenges and seek knowledge!
Due to our classification as a Title 1 school, resources are often times unavailable and limited. However, my students' resilience make the best out of a difficult situation.
My Project
Every year, my 5th grade students are enthusiastic about the multitude of ways we use technology in the classroom. Having access to technology makes a world of difference in the lives of students. Being able to utilize programs (Pearson Realize, Go Math!, Studies Weekly, Reading.Org, and Newsela) offered in the district would benefit the students tremendously. For example, I've noticed that my students are more focused on understanding the skill and willing to show work when completing math assignments on the computer verses a math book.
In Social Studies, they are eager to travel to other countries, learn about various cultures/historical figures, and visit world renown museums and attractions from the comforts of their own classroom.
In ELA, students are engrossed in improving their typing skills and mechanics when completing essays, reading assigned books, having access to a plethora of literacy resources, and creating projects collaboratively and individually. Every year, students are becoming more self motivated to complete homework assignments in school, think outside the box, and take responsibility for their own learning.
