This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our First Grade students love to write about their lives, ideas and stories! One of them writes everything he knows about sports cars. Another tells me stories about the restaurants his family enjoys. I love reading their make-believe stories with their creative characters, settings and adventures.

My students want others to enjoy their writing.

Where they struggle is with penmanship. Their school day is packed full of requirements, and quality handwriting instruction has been pushed way down to the bottom of the list.

My Project

My students have a lot to say! I want to empower them to convey their messages by learning to write them down in cursive. The materials I am requesting will give my students a foundation in cursive instruction and the opportunity to transfer this instruction directly into their writing,

In the age of technology, writing on paper is becoming a dying art.

Yet, writing on paper benefits a student's ability to recall

information and convey beautiful messages. Cursive instruction benefits students memory because it teaches them to write in a continous flow. It is already used with dsylexic students on our campus. Why not give all students this opportunity!
