Creativity is a necessary component of any truly college preparatory high school experience. I teach tenth grade Global History and twelfth grade Government and Economics at a high-need school in the Bronx.
I have several senior students who are looking to college knowing that they want to major in some type of art or creative design. The problem is, our school does not have an art teacher, supplies, or storage space. My students feel that they need to be putting their artistic skills to use NOW, if they hope to be competitive at the college level. We have found the answer to part of the obstacle: students can use my room during my free period, lunch, before, or after school to work independently on their artwork. Now we need some place to store the artwork and supplies.
Here's where you come in. We have requested three movable storage carts to keep their art in. That way if they need to relocate to another classroom, it will make for easy transportation and organization.
Your contribution will not only help my students have easy access to their art and enhance their organization skills, but will also move my students one step closer to their dream of making artwork more than just a hobby pushed around in a cart - making an art major in college a closer reality!
