Every day my students come into the classroom ready to tackle the day. They are always wanting to know what they will be learning about. They are an enthusiastic group and love technology. Working on the computer motivates them!
I have been teaching at my school for 18 years.
It is a Title 1 school, with over 70% of the student population receiving free or reduced lunch. It has a high ELL and SpEd population. The school is located in a very low socioeconomic neighborhood. These kids deserve the very best and I do my best every day to give them a high-quality education filled with memorable experiences. Many of my students come from low-income families. Their lives out of school do not come with many experiences. Many come to school with little understanding of what our world has to offer them. As their teacher, I always want them to know that our classroom will be a safe and happy environment. I want them to have learning experiences that excite them and encourage them to love learning. It is my wish that they leave my class excited about learning.
My Project
We spend much time on our carpet. Class lessons are often held there, small group activities take place there, students like to sit there while they read, games are played on the carpet and a nice carpet provides a warm ambiance for the classroom. My students and I spend a lot of time in the classroom and it’s very important for me that the classroom environment is warm and inviting. I know my students appreciate that also. Our current carpet is worn and difficult to clean any longer. It is not inviting, more of an eyesore now. Since so much time is spent on the carpet, a new one would be wonderful!
