My Students

I am a first year teacher at a rural elementary school. My students are eager to learn and enjoy math the most! They are a wonderful group and I am excited for my first year teaching with them! In first grade, my students will be learning exciting things such as how to read and write well written sentences! Learning to read and establishing a love for books is a huge goal for my firsties!

In this class we love to engage in hands-on activities in our centers.

We love creating things!

Teaching first grade will allow me to instill a love of reading and math in my students at such an early age. The impact of a great teacher is crucial for early learners in order for them to love school.

My Project

We currently do not have enough spots for all students with our rug. The rug we have only seats 12 students. In a class of 22, that isn't enough for everyone to have their own spot. During carpet time (which is often in first grade) I assign responsible students a seat which is off the rug. Although this works sometimes, it isn't very fair or effective. If we were to get this rug, I would position it next to the rug I currently have (which is the same one) and create a larger space which allows all students to have their own square!
