The Pre-K students at our school are four and five year old explorers who take an eager and energetic approach to learning every school day. I teach 20 culturally diverse, beautiful children in my urban MN classroom. About 97% of the children in our school live in poverty, and more than half are learning English as their second language. The families of my students value the education their children receive but most are unable to provide the support needed for materials and school supplies. My goal is to create an environment that engages ALL students. I strive to provide them with opportunities and materials that fit their needs and that they feel connected to. I am always looking to update materials to represent the students in my class.
Our classroom only has fluorescent lighting. There have been many studies that show that fluorescent lighting can cause sensory issues with children as well as cause headaches. I would like to cover all of the fluorescent lighting in our classroom with calming light filters to reduce the flicker and glare they can cause.
The light filters will make our classroom a comfortable place for all my students to learn and grow!
These light filters would help with dimming the brightness of the light and would just make our classroom a much calmer setting, allowing for better focus and comfort for all students.
