My second grade inclusion classroom is filled with 22 students from all walks of life. As a full inclusion school, we work with children who would otherwise be in a substantially separate setting, students who are learning above grade level, and all learners in between. My students are diverse racially, religiously, economically, and culturally.
My students show interest in learning about and using technology, but are not regularly provided with access to technology.
My second grade students engage in various types of reading. Students in my classroom write, across genres, their own stories, books and poems. They enjoy investigating and solving challenging math tasks. My students love to share their thinking. My students are valued members of our classroom community.
My Project
The world is becoming more and more reliant on technology. There is an expectation that children become comfortable with technology in the classroom; however, schools do not receive funding in order to make this expectation a reality.
My students will use these ChromeBooks to research information for non fiction books that they will write, type various genres of writing, and listen to rich oral story telling.
Many Students have limited access to computers at home, so it is my goal to give them access to computers at school.
As my students progress through the grades they will be exposed to more consistent technology and expected to produce more. It is my goal that these ChromeBooks serve as initial exposure to technology.
