A Calculator That Talks Me Through My Lessons.

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn how to add and subtract real life math material on a calculator. The talking calculator will benefit those students who have trouble with utilizing the keys on the calculator.

My Students

A life skills curriculum approach blends academic, daily living, personal/social, and occupational skills into integrated lessons designed to help students learn to function independently in society. Our students are in a rural community setting and the future holds hope for jobs in the local sheltered workshop or small town venues. Our students with autism have a learning alley that requires activities that support their sensory needs.

The students in my class have big hearts, huge smiles, a willingness to learn new skills with enthusiasm!

My Project

A talking calculator will help us learn how to add and subtract for our real life community based instruction

Our students will use the talking calculators in order to help them learn how to use the keys on the calculator during their real life math applications of our classroom work as well as our community based instruction times.

Students in our class are learning how to create grocery shopping lists and locating the items and prices within the stores. The calculator will help both the student and their helper as they find their way through the grocery list and the prices to come to the total amount needed to pay for their items.
