Westfield High School is a diverse, public high school, and my students are caring, creative, and unique. Each year my 10th grade students take the MCAS exam, and those who do not pass the exam retake it the following year. It is a graduation requirement for students to pass the exam. Many students rely on the school to provide a calculator, as they do not have the means to purchase one independently. They are motivated to do well on the exam, but require a professional grade calculator to fully demonstrate their capability.
My endeavor is to provide each student with a professional grade calculator on exam day, ensuring that all students have an opportunity to showcase their understanding.
The calculators would be utilized year after year, and would provide countless students with the opportunity to perform their best on exams.
My Project
My request is for thirty TI30 II math calculators. These calculators can perform advanced functions, such as logarithms, that our current calculators do not. Many students do not have a professional grade calculator of their own, and my goal is to ensure all students have the same opportunity to demonstrate what they are learning in the classroom.
My students, many of whom have a Specific Learning Disability in math, often struggle on their math exams, and would benefit from a professional grade scientific calculator.
. The rigor of today's math requires that student's utilize technology in order to perform functions beyond a standard calculator. The TI30 calculator contains the professional grade applications that my students need in order to demonstrate their understanding of mathematical concepts. Thank you for your consideration and generosity!
