A British Garden for the STARS of Progress Village
My students need 5 different resources to create the opportunity to work in three dimensions by working with clay.
This project expired on June 29, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our school used to have a separate course and teacher for sculpture and 2-D art, and due to budget constraints, we now only have one teacher for both art disciplines. The current budget is split between both disciplines and the funds don't allow room for purchasing sculpture supplies.
My students are middle schoolers, grades 6-8, who have applied to attend our school.
They are both demographically and culturally diverse. Their talent is impressive, and they are part of the local artistic community. They are constantly called on by community leaders and advocates of the arts to exhibit their work.
The clay requested in the project will be used to complete a British sculpture garden for school beautification, and in honor of our former art instructor. Specifically, the clay will be used to make figurative sculptures; including gnomes, as well as various animal and nature- based sculptures.
This project will be integral in overall school beautification.
We also have collaboration with local businesses who are providing other necessary materials for the project; including marble, iron and seating areas. Several classes of students, teachers and parents will participate in the creation of this sculpture viewing area.
