This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are the highlight of my day! They come from many backgrounds and speak many languages.
I work in a Title I school where the needs of the children are high and funding is never enough.
In my classroom, I introduce the children to all aspects of learning from early literacy to science exploration. My children enjoy learning/discovering new things every day. Many of the topics I introduce to my children are topics they are learning for the very first time and I want to make sure I offer them many opportunities to ensure their success.
My Project
We need these materials for our new theme: Light.
This project would significantly help motivate my children and deepen their understanding of natural and man-made sources of light.
My children will manipulate the light tablet and light kit to think critically about light, darkness, and shadows.
I will use the camera to document the process of their learning and their work which lets them know I value it and them. Documentation benefits children, engages parents and will guide my instruction.
My children and I will use the paper for this project to record observations, drawing, etc. and beyond this project.
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning and improve their school lives because they will be motivated, engage in hands-on experiences and these materials will help provide opportunities for my children to make predictions and think about their world in increasingly abstract ways.
