Most students at PHS have grown up in this small town located in rural Vermont. The school's motto is, "small in size, big in spirit", and the students at PHS embody those words. Outsiders who enter into the building are quickly accepted by these respectful, welcoming students. Classroom teachers at PHS provide opportunities for collaboration and proficiency-based learning. Classes are personalized, and many students are eager to learn and driven to inquire.
As an English teacher, I make a concerted effort to nurture lifelong readers.
As a result, many of the students in my classroom are eager readers. We work together to stock a classroom library that is diverse and inviting. The students are constantly asking for new titles to add to the collection.
My Project
Our school's current COVID-19 safety protocols require students to wear masks in the classroom, even when they are seated at their desks. That is a lot of mask time for a child who is trying to focus on learning!
Fortunately, we have beautiful grounds surrounding the school buildings where students are allowed to work mask-free; however, outdoor seating is limited, and students must remain six feet apart when they are unmasked.
These portable camp chairs will allow my students to work comfortably while getting necessary breaths of fresh air! They are portable, easy to store, and capable of being cleaned and sanitized between class periods.
