My Students

SCVi is the founding school of iLEAD Charter Schools. Our school is a progressive and dedicated to project based learning that incorporates 21st Century skills through collaborative, creative, technological and relevant projects.

Our learners are self-directed, and given the choices in class to create solutions for real life challenges to their community.

Through hands on, self-directed projects, the learners create the solutions using the standards in authentic ways, rather than the standard write an essay activities that usually accompany literature curriculum.

My Project

The books will provide the learners with the opportunity to analyze the language in Huxley's dystopian future, BRAVE NEW WORLD, versus the language used in advertisements, the media and politics today. Diving deep, they will examine how propaganda was used in Huxley's book, as well as how propaganda influenced the community. Next, they will compare the use of propaganda in BRAVE NEW WORLD to the propaganda that is used in the 21st Century in various countries around the world.

Learners will create Info-graphs to educate youth on how propaganda is use in the media, entertainment, and by the government today.
