Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A good book can open many doors to new worlds and new learning opportunities. My students come from low-income housing and we are a Title I school. Therefore, having a book vending machine would really enhance our literacy goals by having books available to our students whenever needed.
My students are eager to learn and what better way to reward our students than with a prize from a book vending machine.
This is not a typical vending machine! This special vending machine is filled with books! Our school is filled with students eager to read and this book vending machine will give all of our students the power to choose that just right book. My school is PBIS school, so the vending machine will be used as a school-wide incentive, where students can earn a special golden token for the book vending machine in a variety of positive ways. Students can earn the golden coin for reaching reading goals, positive behavior, academic growth, work ethic, good character, etc. The possibilities are endless! The vending machine will be filled with a variety of books from different genres and leveled readers to meet our students' reading needs.
My Project
My school participates in PBIS (positive behavior incentive support). We reward students for good behavior in many ways and this Inchy Bookworm Book Vending Machine would be another way that we can incentivize good behavior so that the focus stays on the academics!
My students love to read and getting a book vending machine will help them grow as readers!
At my school, PBIS is a big deal! My students work very hard for incentives to reward their good behavior. I mean, who doesn't want to be rewarded all the time for doing their best?
