This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a class of twenty-one awesome first graders in a Title I community school located near Fort Bragg. All of the students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my parents are nurses, factory workers as well as active duty soldiers.
To help them overcome the challenges they currently face during this pandemic, I am eager to give my students meaningful resources to support their at home learning.
The Champs are working so hard to stay on track and continue learning through this difficult time. I am all the more determined that their academic progress will not be impeded during this global pandemic.
My Project
March 13th. This was the last day that I saw the Champs. In the rush to leave, I was not able to get any of the books that I needed for distance learning. One of my favorite ways to use technology and engage families and students at home, is to offer video read alouds.
I would like to purchase uplifting and humorous books that will allow me to record or read to my students during our Google Meets.
These read aloud books will allow the Champs to connect to their learning as they are all about diverse characters in various life situations. They will provide endless opportunities for discussion and my students will be able to make connections to the characters in the books.
