Do you remember that first book that made you fall in love with reading? The story that allowed you to escape into another world for a moment, the biography that gave you new goals and dreams, or the recount of information so riveting that you just could not wait to learn more? My students are thoughtful, imaginative readers and learners, and are excited to read books of all genres inside and outside of our classroom walls.
Students at my school come from diverse backgrounds and cultures and have a wide variety of reading levels, interests, and educational needs.
My ELA classroom will serve as an essential resource for children who need access to different genres and styles of writing to help them grow as students and young citizens of our global community.
My Project
The materials and supplies on my list are essential to helping students have a successful learning atmosphere, and necessary for me to engage and fulfill their needs! The notebooks and folders will be used to not only organize their materials, but also to show all of their hard work and skills obtained throughout the school year. The highlighters, pencils, and pens will undoubtedly be used to completion, helping us determine important quotations, evidence, and supporting claims in our writing. "Book boxes" will be the center of independent student learning; with these organizers, students can safely store their independent and guided reading books with the rest of their literature and English Language Arts materials.
