My Students

Smiles. I love to see the smiles on my students' faces when they sound out a new word or recognize a word from the day before. The smile when they finish a book or when they see me while I'm doing morning duty is priceless.

"Are you coming to pick us up today?"

This is the question that I get almost every morning as my students come into school and give me a hug. Do you know what I do? I smile.

My Project

Fluency is a major component of reading that I try to focus on with my students. I read aloud and we listen to books online in order to hear what fluent reading should sound like. My students need to practice moving their eyes faster as they follow the text so they can read faster on their own. This class set of books will allow each student to hold a copy of the book in their hands when we read aloud.

Students will be able to practice tracking the text at the speed of a fluent reader with these books.

This set of books will give my students hours of face-time in a book. I have no doubt that as they fall in love with this book, their fluency will increase.
