This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My third-grade class is amazing and is filled with students that aspire to be anything from a bus driver, teacher, policeman, football player, to a computer game programmer, baker, youtuber, along with anything in between. These students are amazing and have the whole world at their hands. They are all unique in their own way, and each one of them brings something important to our classroom. I am constantly keeping a quote from JFK in my mind, "Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future."
My Project
Students in my class do not have the opportunity to experience going to art since it is not part of our school budget, so my students rely on the art time that I set aside for them to creatively express themselves. While I am far from being talented in the art department, I know how important it is for students to be able to participate in meaningful learning experiences beyond the regular classroom learning of math, reading, language arts, science, and social studies. Watercolors and paints are a simple start for them!
