I have an amazing group of kids who surprise me every day.
Every day we learn to overcome learning difficulties and make the world work for us.
Each of my kids is an atypical learner, which means they have unique needs. Part of my job is to help them become independent and self-confident in their ability to learn.
All of my students need help accessing written materials. They rely on pecial tools like text-to-speech to make writing accessible. I teach them to use these tools to become independent learners.
Digital tools give kids in special education unparalleled access to learning materials. Kids with dyslexia can use text-to-speech, kids with dysgraphia can type. Kids who need repeated exposures to the same material can do so in more reliable ways. Kids with speech difficulties can use communication boards. But it only works when they can learn to use these tools.
This requested Toshiba LED Smart Fire TV's large display will help me demonstrate these skills and tools to my students.
By using the same tools as my students, they learn to use these tools independently and become stronger learners.
Developing self-confidence in their ability learn is key to their success. My goal is to make these tools a natural part of their skill-set so they can explore the world with confidence and Independence.
