Help me give my students an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil to enhance their classroom learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
One hundred percent of my students receive free lunch. The neighborhood where the school is located in one of the many turbulent communities of Chicago. While each of my students comes from different family situations, many of them are not conducive to a healthy learning environment. There are students being raised by their grandparents, foster parents, and some are living in shelters. Despite these hardships, my kindergartners are like little sponges eager to learn and grow. They come to school with smiles on their faces ready to conquer the world.
The future lies in the hands of these kindergarten students that I have the pleasure of teaching.
It is my responsibility to ensure that each student is receiving the best education possible. Having access to an iPad Pro can help reduce the learning barriers created from the lack of resources in the school and the neighborhood as a whole.
In kindergarten, students are expected to spend a bulk of their time in small and whole group instruction. This instruction is focused on teaching various skills and strategies. As a teacher, I will use the iPad Pro to reinforce these skills such as the alphabet, sight words, and mathematics. Students will be able to use the iPad Pro while working independently, and they will be able to work co-dependently with another student.
An iPad Pro and Apple Pencil are innovative tools that can provide for the different needs that a child may have.
A teacher with a class of 30 students is limited in how she can cater to each child’s needs. The interactivity of iPad Pro is especially advantageous to students who require a more hands-on learning approach. Moreover, an iPad Pro has the ability to track students’ progress, allowing them to learn at their own pace.
Overall, the addition of an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil in my classroom will serve as a major catalyst in allowing my students to achieve regardless of their learning style or ability. My kindergarteners are courageous and well-deserving of instruments of educational innovation.
