My students need a classroom whiteboard for projecting classroom work and communicating our ideas visually through words and pictures.

Students come from all walks of life at our school. We celebrate diversity on a daily basis and look for ways to create a learning environment that appeals to all types of learners. We celebrate various learning styles and embrace the differences that make us all unique. This year our class includes multi-language learners, students with hearing impairments and students benefiting from various sensory integration strategies. We are nestled in a south side Chicago neighborhood, walking distance from a large university.
My students need a large whiteboard to display their ideas, questions and understandings. Our current board is stained and has been covered multiple times with adhesive dry erase material. A new whiteboard will be more user friendly, allowing teachers AND students to write, draw, erase and write again and again with ease. Students will benefit from seeing classmates explain their thinking in a BIG way on a BIG classroom board. The board will also be used to project student work using a projector and replacing our damaged projection screen. Students with special needs will benefit from seeing directions displayed visually with plenty of space for illustrations to clarify meaning. Students will practice fine motor skills, with guidance, while writing and drawing on the whiteboard. Students who are reluctant to verbally express understanding will have opportunities to display their work and ideas for classmates and teachers.
