Students at my high school are great. I've taught at multiple schools and the majority of these kids are highly respectful and although motivation in education can always improve, these kids for the most part care about passing classes and do care about being successful on the field and on the court. Large schools may have more options for classes and have fancy things but a small school like us is like family. I get to teach the same kids every year and see them grow. I love the community and family atmosphere in a small rural school.
Most of these requested materials are for general classroom use. All classrooms need the basics, in good supply: pens, paper, expos, notebooks etc. My cart also includes a few new pieces of equipment that are in poor shape in my classroom or nonexistent: a 4 drawer file cabinet to help me keep my students organized and have more effective lesson plans, stapler, pencil sharpener etc. I teach in a science room with a lab so my room is large and brooms would go a long way with helping it stay clean. I also like the pin boards with dry erase so I can put up notes and events that our school is having. This will help students stay informed. My project is really just to help the general education in my classroom. These are things that are always in short supply and would go a long way in helping all of my students be successful.
