The students in my classroom are positive, proud, and ready for learning! I am blessed to work every year with a group of students who will push the limits of what you would expect from a 5 or 6 year old child. Their approach to learning is loud and busy and so much fun.
They truly inspire me to be more because of their willingness to push themselves every day.
Our classroom gives every student a level playing field, regardless of their varying home lives. Every student coming through the door knows the expectation is greatness and their job for the day is finding what that looks like for them. Ideas for projects are welcomed and put into motion. Movement, visualization, and models are their basis for understanding. They want to be the idea and the process and the understanding of their learning - and so they are.
My Project
I have selected crayons, pencils, folders, binders and other school-readiness tools that are going immediately into the hands of young boys and girls ready to learn how to use them. Many of these students have never been to school before and will learn valuable lessons about respecting and using their new school items to be successful inside and outside of the classroom. They are also filling a void that many of these students feel, as most of my students' families do not have the financial ability to provide them with these items.
Our students come to us with the brains and the willpower and the want, they're only lacking the materials.
These items will assure them that my expectation is simply their all. By filling their crayon boxes, back packs, and cubbies with the things they need, they can give it.
