As you can see from the picture, I am new to this room and have a lot of work to do to get it all set up and ready for a bunch of little learners! We offer a variety of programs geared towards educating children ages 0 to 5 along with their parents. Specifically in this room is a program for children who are four by September 1st. My classroom is also shared with a program specifically for children age three. Our school is located in the central part of Minnesota and we service many low income families. Our program, as with many Early Childhood programs, has very limited funding. We don't currently have any room in our budget for new toys or classroom furniture.
Much of our activities take place on the floor.
The children listen to read alouds, put together puzzles and partake in circle time and class meetings on the floor. We currently do not have any sort of rug for our room. I would love to have a beautiful rug that invites the children and excites them for circle time and story time!
My Project
I love story time and circle time! Much of our core teaching will be happening during story and circle time at the floor. Our classroom currently does not have a rug for the children to sit on, and our program does not have the funds to provide one right now.
I would love for students to be excited about running to the "special ABC rug" to gather together for stories and learning.
On the ABC rug the students will be able to give each-other space by choosing their own designated letter to sit on. It will also give our circle time area a special look!
