My school is a Title I elementary school and my students come from near and far to be learners in a nurturing environment. These are wonderful kids with so much potential who love the access to new technology that isn't always available to them outside of school.
I see every student in the school each week, from kindergarten to 5th grade, and we start learning technology skills on the very first day.
Kindergartners are learning about letters and numbers and how to make the mouse do what they want it to do. 5th graders are demonstrating their learning with stop motion and music, graphics, art, coding, 3-D modeling, and everything in between.
My Project
Our students have been creating 3-D models using Tinkercad, but we don't have a 3-D printer to bring these creations to life. We currently use Tinkercad to help students increase visual-spatial awareness and build models on a coordinate plane. Utilizing the x, y, and z axis with Tinkercad is simple enough for the younger students and can be used to challenge the most voracious learners. However, using Tinkercad is not as meaningful without a way to print our creations. Help our students expand learning in mathematical concepts such as area, volume and measurement with a new 3-D printer.
