I am a music teacher in Queens, N.Y. for Kindergarten to Third grade students. Through a non-profit organization called "Music and the Brain," our students have been able to participate in learning keyboard instruction. This neuroscience-based program was designed to help students develop critical thinking, and tune their fine motor skills. Our students have become enticed by the keyboard and the appealing songs provided by the program. The songs are also accompanied with body movement to help students feel the beat of the music. These songs have sparked an interest in our students who love to sing and dance.
It has been a great joy of mine to watch students, as young as five years old, immerse themselves in music and learn the discipline of practice!
We have been providing an after-school Chorus & Dance program for students who are particularly passionate for the arts. The music program has created an outlet for students to expand on their creative skills through music appreciation. We would love to keep the music alive here by encouraging students to participate in all our music opportunities.
My Project
We would like to use these materials for our upcoming music concert! We will be singing and dancing a tribute to the band, Queen.
The students love to dress up and use various props to enhance the audience's experience during our concert.
These materials will be used to put together these props so the selected students can use them while performing. We believe that this extra touch will help add more pizazz to the performance and goes along with our concert theme.
During after-school hours, students will be learning movement and dance to different Queen songs. They will practice using the props in their dances and with the songs they will be singing on stage.
