My students are passionate about learning. They want to make history come alive and debate current issues so that they can be engaged citizens. They love active learning and get excited when we use modern technology to enhance their understanding of the past. In our class, we put on historical theater, make mock marketing presentations, and create newscast videos. My students are hard-working, funny, compassionate and it is a joy to teach them each day!
I teach in a public school in NY with a student body that is very motivated and engaged in their learning.
Every year our budget seems to get smaller but my classes get bigger. This year I'm teaching 140 students and most of them are in AP.
My Project
They will be able to focus on AP History! It is impossible to focus when all you hear is loud fans.
Additionally, with the location of my room, it is warm all year round - making proper fans that circulate quiet air a must have.
The Lasko 2554 Wind Curve Tower Fan has gotten great reviews and I know it will help cool the room I teach in.
Plus, I'd like to add to our collection of history and historical fiction. Pillars of the Earth and the Century Trilogy are two works of historical fiction I would like to keep in my classroom library. Additionally, Charles Mann's and Reza Aslan's books are important works of non-fiction my students could read in sum or excerpts from in AP World history. Keeping up to date on new historical theories and books is one of the ways I keep my Socratic seminars timely. Plus, I've always been a big proponent of recommending historical fiction to my students; it's how I fell in love with history!
