Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As an elementary school teacher in a city where every school is a Title I school, my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Brownsville, TX has been identified as one of the nation's poorest and fattest cities. I want to make a change in their perspective on life and realize that no matter where they are, they can lead a healthy life full of opportunities.
Despite the many challenges my students face, I am looking to provide my students with an unforgettable, meaningful, and active learning experience.
By the time students get to fifth grade, they say that they hate reading, and it is not their fault. They do not know what reading is, they believe reading is just the state test, "read a passage and answer questions." However, I am here to change their outlook on reading, and develop a true passion for reading, have them escape into a world that has no limits, where anything can happen.
My Project
As part of our STEM projects, my goal is to incorporate creativity, problem-solving and critical thinking through the engineering process all while making it fun and engaging.
Technology is a part of each of my student's day, yet with this laptop, they would now have an updated, NO RESTRICTIONS, and unlimited access to the world outside my classroom doors.
I plan on utilizing this laptop as a tool to give my students the scientific know-how that is required for real-world careers. From math to science this laptop will make a difference in the way my students apply their knowledge
