My Students

This professional development will be used for getting myself certified to teach 9-1-1 certification to my students in PVL & JA. The academy has been in operation for 13 years and I would like to update our classes. This professional development will allow me to teach the academy students a new job skill and prepare them for a job as a 9-1-1 officer.

The students in the academy are largely "at risk students" and are on free or reduce lunch status.

My hope is to teach them a skill that they will be able to obtain employment.

My Project

I would like to offer the 9-1-1 certification course to my juniors and seniors. We are planning to purchase simulators for the students to learn how and what is expected in this job.

The course curriculum includes ethics, legal issues, roles and responsibilities, an overview of Law Enforcement, Fire Services, and EMT services, stress management, and many more relevant topics.

Students with a passing score of 75% will receive certification

The professional development will allow me to teach the course as a certified instructor and will enhance my teaching skills.
