Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How can underprivileged students do well inside the classroom? Students can do well inside the classroom by having the simple necessary tools to complete their daily work activities.

The majority of our students come from low-income families, and their resources are extremely limited.

Therefore, we must provide these special tools to enhance their learning on a daily basis. More than 80% of our students will come to school without fulfilling their whole school supply list. It is important for teachers to make sure that our students have the tools necessary to reach their dreams. Financial needs should not get in the way of academic excellence.

My Project

The pandemic has really flipped the education world upside down. From in classroom activities being flipped to remote learning to no longer being allowed to take field trips, we have certainly entered uncharted & unwanted territory. We as teachers now have to think outside an even bigger box! Student interaction has to be limited, we need to be in open spaces, and we can't share items. How do I make up the fun field trips that will make everlasting memories for my 8th graders? We bring the fun to them!

Health and wellness are our top priority at school!

We must make sure students have individual items, so there is minimal sharing. Our 8th graders have missed out on so many fun trips this year. We have started an incentive a month and in February, it's a movie day! We want to make sure this event is special for them. Each student will receive their own bag of popcorn, a drink, snack, and the best gift, glow-in-the-dark glasses! I can't wait to see their faces when they receive these special gifts. Even though we are not leaving the building and experiencing what former eighth-graders did, we are creating new memories that they will forever cherish!
