My Students
"Expand the definition of 'reading' to include non-fiction, humor, graphic novels, magazines, action adventure, and, yes, even websites. It's the pleasure of reading that counts; the focus will naturally broaden." Help my students fall in love with reading through graphic novels!
I am lucky enough to love walking into my school every single day.
It is a place that values the individual needs of students, the development of a strong community, and a place that aims to grow book lovers for life. My students are a vibrant group of 6th graders from all over Washington, DC. Their backgrounds are diverse and they come together to form a unique community and culture where all students can thrive.
My Project
My students have all been requesting graphic novels for our classroom library. Graphic novels can work for all students. I find that many struggling readers find graphic novels more accessible. Advanced readers enjoy to change up their reading routine with a thought-provoking illustrated tale. Adding graphic novels to our classroom library will refuel my students love for reading.
At my school we are building life long readers and building up my classroom library will help us achieve this goal!
I hope to fulfill my students' wishes for a more comprehension graphic novel section in our library!
