My students need 3 additional laptops to access the internet, write up projects based on ancient civilizations, and to increase math scores by working on the Khan Academy and Prodigy websites.

My Students

My students are great group that come from variety of backgrounds. I have several English as a second language learners. I also have 6 special education students that need to have visuals to help them comprehend what is being studied. Hands-on learning is important to all students so that they can make connections to other learning standards.

Our school is about 45% free/reduced lunch students.

Then we have students come from a more affluent background. Using technology is a way to meet the needs of all of these students.

My Project

By using the laptops, students will be actively engaged in learning for the 21st century. Students need to be connected on many levels and computers is one way for this to happen. The laptops will help students increase their math scores, help with searching the Internet about Ancient Cultures, and help them with the writing process. Editing is a lot easier on a computer than a paper. Math scores will increase because students will be actively engaged on learning websites, such as Khan Academy and Prodigy. Research will be in real time and students can be going on virtual fieldtrips to help them get a picture of what is being studied. Finally, students writing will be enhanced because students can write and edit all in one step.
