Have you ever wondered what is happening on the other side of the world in a classroom in Ireland or China? Well, my students are wanting to see where global problems and solutions are happening in the real world.
My 6th grade students are surrounded by technology such as: social media, music players, games that connect across the world using wi-fi, and cell phones.
It would be great if learning /lessons were available across our classrooms in this way. The students have shown that they want to learn and be engaged through active practice and collaboration in all aspects of the curriculum. If our 7th grade students need to engaged in understanding and building a connected, just and sustainable world for their future - I need those 21st century tools to do this.
Studies have shown that students learn best when they are active learners rather than passive learners (1993). Our curriculum takes an integrated, interdisciplinary approach in all areas. Through student driven lessons, questions, projects, and service-learning we strive to create independent learners, critical and creative thinkers, and active and responsible participants in a global society. I am requesting an additional LDC projector so that we have more flexibility with using technology in both our classrooms. In addition, we would like to add a wireless connection and speakers to this projector. For our matcha space, I'd like to utilize a document camera for its ease of use and modeling! I'm really excited about adding this to our arsenal of learning tools.
We all want our 6th grade students to be ready with the 21st century skills needed to succeed in high school and beyond.
Providing them with current and relevant global experiences in our integrated curriculum while using up to date technology will facilitate this transition. Your donations will make a difference in their preparedness!
