We need a fresh start for 6th grade! My students and I have the unique opportunity to be together for the third year in a row. We have used all of our great resources in 4th and 5th grade. We want to start 6th grade off with some exciting new materials!
My students are lively, insightful, and eager to learn.
Many of my students come from low-income homes with parents who do not speak English. We have built a school community that fosters a love of learning, student collaboration, and drive for personal best.
My Project
My students will be with me for the third year in a row. We are so excited to be together again, but our classroom could use some help! My students need a world map, student white boards, and a classroom set of the novel When You Reach Me. The class book set will be read as a fictional book study to teach elements of plot and character development. The white boards will be used to work out math problems and display answers. 6th grade Social Studies covers the United States and Europe. The world map will be used to help put the stories of the past into perspective.
Each year, my students look forward to reading novels and completing projects connected to the stories.
These books are needed to continue these projects at the 6th grade level. Having a world map readily available on the wall will help students better understand the history of the world. The white boards will engage students every day.
