In our classroom, we practice Whole Brain Learning, which means students teach each other while they learn.
My students come from many different backgrounds, but a vast majority have one thing in common... they love science.
The great thing about my students is that I had the privilege to teach them last year as 5th graders and have seen their fascination for the sciences grow. Since we are a new school we have need of many supplies to aid in teaching these eager students the wonders of science.
My Project
One of the sciences we get to study is microbiology. With these supplies my students will be able to learn about the microscopic world.
One way my students will be learning is by using prepared slides from the "Plant Anatomy Identification Classroom Set," which contains slides with easy to identify samples.
Students will also be able to prepare their own slides with microscope slides and slip covers. Then with the aid of the Celestron PentaView 5 MP LCD Digital Microscope, students will be able to record their images on to an SD card, which then can be shared as PowerPoint presentations.
The use of technology, a field with which my students are already quite familiar, will help immerse them in unfamiliar fields of study.
Hands-on science, aided by technology, will bring learning out of the textbook and into real life.
