Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the superstars of this classroom. I encourage all of my kiddos to take charge of their own learning and find something that they love in anything that they do. We engage in a lot of hands-on projects and collaboration with technology to keep ourselves motivated and encouraged to meet our goals.
For some of these children, this classroom is their only stable atmosphere, and so I strive to make it as engaging, creative, safe, and collaborative as possible.
I am proud to witness the wonderful young adults all of my students are growing to be, and I look forward to coming to work every day to help them explore the world of learning!
My Project
We are looking to purchase an Escape Room kit and Platform Access from Breakout EDU. This is a platform that allows teachers to utilize challenging mystery-solving skills and puzzles to help students arrive at a higher understanding of the classroom content.
My students absolutely LOVE participating in Escape Room projects, and they are begging me for more opportunities to do so, and by donating to this project, you'd be allowing me to create an immersive world for my students to thrive in utilizing teamwork, puzzles, and time management skills!
Escape Rooms can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour where students are given a multi-step challenge that they must solve together in the allotted amount of time. The challenges can range anywhere from translating hieroglyphs to discovering hidden fingerprints to find the "mystery suspect". They are tremendous growth opportunities not only for academic skills, but social skills and communication as well (something that is extremely important to preadolescence).
