My students need 6+1 Traits materials for focused instruction on how to write to the best of their ability and focus on the essential components of good writing.
Many students struggle to write well. Learning to write well not only helps students on state standardized tests but improves their communication skills with others.
My students come from a wide range of towns in and around central Indiana and are residents of the treatment facility where I teach.
My students are Middle and High School students in grades 6-12.
My students abilities range from those with learning disabilities to those who learn quickly without help. All of them need to improve their communications skills through reading and writing!
My Project
6+1 Writing materials are research-based and curriculum aligned. Teaching students using these materials makes the process of learning to write well manageable for all students. These materials break down the essential skills and use easy to read children's books to model the traits. Most of my students do not have those basic skills mastered and these materials will help them become better writers.
Becoming better writers will not only help students test higher in the English/Language arts section on standardized tests but help them feel more confident in their writing ability.
My students will greatly benefit from these materials.
