Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
BES is a Title I school with highly impacted students. Our fifth-grade students engage in Spanish Dual Language Immersion and we integrate a lot of technology to assist in helping our students become competitive global citizens.
Because our students vary vastly with regards to their academic levels, ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade, we strive to increase exposure to experiences they may not have the opportunity to engage in otherwise.
To continue to meet our goal of creating competent, competitive citizens, and exposing students to experiences they may not have otherwise, we are asking for support in the area of field trips.
My Project
My students will use the donated funds to go on a field trip to the Natural History Museum of Utah. NHMU offers great opportunities for our students to visualize, conceptualize, and better comprehend the world that we live in. Moreover, the information available at the museum will help them master the 5th-grade science standards for the state of Utah, specifically standards 2 and 5 which deal with Utah Land-forms and Heredity respectively.
A visit to NHMU will provide many of our highly impacted students with not only invaluable science lessons but also with an experience that they might not ever have the opportunity to have again.
