I teach fifth grade at a K-8 elementary school in the Sierra Nevada foothills. My students are growing up together in a small, tight-knit community school. I have diverse learning needs throughout my classroom, but all of my students are eager, enthusiastic, and innovative despite our low socioeconomic and Title I status. They enjoy collaborative, hands-on projects and working together to accomplish a goal.
This is my third year teaching fifth grade.
I'm excited to have students participate in their growth and education throughout the year.
My Project
I have moved grade levels a few times over the last several years, so my classroom library is a mismatch of books in a variety of reading levels, but I have very little reading selection available for on-level readers in fifth grade.
My students need high-interest titles at their reading level to refresh my classroom library.
Titles like Marty Pants, Jake the Fake, and the 13-Story Treehouse series will motivate my students to pick up a book and enter the world of fantasy and fiction.
We also need a USB document camera, so my students can see how I model with math and writing.
