We are a public school in Arizona made up of middle-class families. Our 3 fifth-grade classrooms are general education classrooms of about 25 students each composed of boys and girls of varying educational levels.
Our students are 21st century learners, and with the increased use of technology, we have opened the door to many global opportunities by collaborating with other classrooms around the world.
Additionally, our students are learning how to communicate, collaborate, be creative, and problem solve daily. Our grade level team models all of these skills for our students, so they can witness firsthand the benefits of teamwork.
My Project
The resources I will need for this project are 6 kits that include access to the learning games platform. This will have everything I need to share the activities with the entire grade level.
Each kit contains resettable locks, boxes, and other items needed to play the Breakout EDU games.
The platform has over 500 games in a variety of subject areas. Additionally, there is a digital creation tool that allows teachers to create their own games based on the curriculum being taught.
These kits will make a difference in my students' learning because they foster creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. I have seen firsthand how a fun, engaging activity like this can bring out our shy students and give them a safe opportunity to contribute their ideas.
